Finally we have weather again! It seems a lifetime since I seen deep powder, the kind the canucks call blower. Well, we had some of that, but it was short lived.
Friday the snow was epic, but our program was a shit show. First off Cody thought he should wake up after a hard night of drinking and make some mods to his sled. He added a new air intake and some C&A Pro skis, which unfortunately found him stuck several times throughout the day. We planned to leave at 9:30 but we left the house at 11, no biggy. Lucky for us we were first tracks in what started as mashed potato snow, which later resulted in my first blown belt of the year, 500mi. I still really donʼt know how to change a belt on a cat, but I can get the job done. Come to find out in the midst of me blowing my belt, Andyʼs manifold had fallen off and he didnʼt have the right tool to get it back on. Lucky for us the star wrench kind of works for an allen wrench, and we were back in action. Our difficulties didnʼt end there. Once we made it to lower meadows the snow was good and deep, so we spent plenty of time digging out sleds. Andy was battling a secondary that wasnʼt shifting right and Cody was fighting his new skis. By the time we broke our way just below Little Eagle meadows the fog had rolled in and everybody had enough. The snow was really coming down as we headed off the mountain, but once we dropped down to 2000ʼ it turned to rain.
Saturday started off great, everybody was on point. We had trail broke in for us, we were set! Well, unfortunately the snow had taken a turn for worse, it had a layer of crust on top of fluff. Donʼt get me wrong though, I am stoked to have 4-5ʼ of snow we got out of this storm, we fricken needed it. As we cruised across the meadow, the wind seemed like it was blowing at least 50 mph. A good thing to do when its nasty, crawl down into the forest service cabin. As we ate out burritos, deliciously cooked with our muff pots, we all laughed about how much fun we were having. Refreshed and ready to shred we came out of the cabin to blue skies! It was on, we all felt like kids in a candy store and shredded as much fresh snow as we possibly could. Brian and I found some good airs while Andy took some sick shots, but before we knew it we were out of gas and tuckered out. Once we arrived in the parking lot we joked about the day and I asked everybody to stop by the house on the way to town, with the lure of food cooked by my beautiful wife. She delivered as promised and everybody headed back to town with full bellies.
